Remembering Renata Scotto

Today is the first anniversary of the passing of Renata Scotto. Erica Miner was a violinist in the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra during her Scotto’s reigning years there. Erica shares many fascinating stories and intimate personal insights about Renata Scotto and how her Met career affected her life emotionally. She also provides an inside look at Renata’s artistic creativity and her relationships with colleagues. I want to thank Erica Miner for inviting us into her home and sharing her wonderful memories, insights, and reflections of our beloved Renata.

Today is the first anniversary of the passing of Renata Scotto. Last July I did a podcast together with Octavio Roca, co-author of Renata’s autobiography Scotto, More Than a Diva. At present, Octavio is working on a new novel and maintains a busy schedule both writing and traveling. Octavio recommended that we excerpt sections of our podcast and focus on areas that speak directly about Renata. Octavio chose storytelling from the time that he spent in Italy collaborating with Renata on the book. He also shared other events throughout his life related to Renata that are special memories for him and some of these have been excerpted from the interview to allow him to provide some of his reflections. I joined Octavio in sharing some insights, reflections, and storytelling about Renata from my personal perspective. Thanks to Octavio Roca for being part of “Remembering Renata Scotto” on this special anniversary.
